Yellow Legged Hornet Alert

Yellow Legged Hornet (formerly the Asian Hornet) has been spotted in Sunbury. This is a ferociously invasive species and alarmingly close. It is particularly important for allotment plot holders to be vigilant because they are likely to be attracted to allotment sites due to the high number of pollinators and honeybee hives.

The Regional Bee Inspector, Tom Bickerdike, has asked if anyone in the Sunbury area would be willing to help with monitoring as they still need to track down the nest. If you think you can help email Thomas.Bickerdike@apha.gov.uk
