Association Subscriptions

** Friendly Reminder: 2026 Annual Subs Due! **

Can you believe it is August already? Time flies when you are busy on the plot!

Currently, about 50% of our members have yet to pay their annual 2026 subscriptions. We completely understand how easily this can be overlooked or forgotten during the busy growing season. However, these subs are our chief form of income and are vital for covering the daily running costs of our allotment site.

To help make things simpler in the future, we are working on introducing a handy payment QR code on-site soon. In the meantime, we will be sending out reminder letters in about a week.

If you still need to pay, you can beat the letters by using one of the quick methods below:

Bank Transfer: Please use the bank details below. Crucial: Include your name and plot number as the reference so we can update our records.

  • Bank: Lloyds
  • Sort code:  30-98-79
  • A/c number:  02535368
  • A/c name: Markhole Allotment Association

Card Payment: Look out for a committee member with the SumUp app or machine:

  • Mike (Plot 106)
  • Katrina & Chris (Plot 102)
  • Ellie (Plot 59)
  • Chris D (Plot 31)

Cash is still accepted although we are trying to move away from this as a form of payment.

Many thanks,
The Committee

What a lovely day the Summer Social turned out to be! A huge thank you to all our volunteers who helped make it happen, and to everyone who donated goods, we couldn’t have done it without you. • Yellow Legged Hornet Alert

A Yellow Legged Hornet (formerly the Asian Hornet) has been spotted in Sunbury. This is a ferociously invasive species and alarmingly close. It is particularly important for allotment plot holders to be vigilant because they are likely to be attracted to allotment sites due to the high number of pollinators and honeybee hives. The Regional Bee Inspector, Tom…

  • Chris’ Corner

I feel the need to disabuse some people of the notion that all committee members are part of the mafia. Rumours are easy to start and sometimes hard to dispel. God, I should know this more than most! It appears that because all of our mothers cook spaghetti and we all have black cars, we…

  • Situations vacant

We have vacancies for those handy person types among us, who would be prepared to make a bird box or two (or more) to support our ‘pesticides free strategy’ team. Boxes will be placed at optimal sites (generally facing between north and east, with adequate shade, and ventilation) around the site. This team are preparing a number…

  • Allotment Committee Report

August 1, 2026 The most significant (startling!) matter discussed was Mike Wren’s sudden announcement that, after 36 years on the committee, he needed to step away and focus on other matters that presently require his attention. Mike did not formally retire at the meeting, and the timing and arrangements for his eventual departure remain to be…
